Dr. Alice B. Farkouh

Dr. Farkouh was more than just an administrator; she was a visionary leader who saw the "highest star" in every student who walked our halls. During her tenure, she transformed the landscape of the Fort, overseeing a period of incredible growth and modernization.
We remember her today through the many milestones she championed for our school:
-
The construction of the Thomas F. Greene Natatorium.
-
The establishment of the Army Jr. ROTC Program and the Marching Regiment.
-
The creation of the first courtroom and the Culinary Arts classroom.
-
Leading the school through challenges like the asbestos crisis and overcrowded classrooms with grace and perseverance.
-
Celebrating our athletic heights, including the first Varsity and Jr. Varsity football teams and the PSAL Varsity Football Championship.
In her own words to the Class of 1994, she reminded us that "no one should discourage you or tell you that ‘You can’t do it.’" She believed that self-esteem and pride in one’s school and city were the keys to a meaningful life.
Dr. Farkouh often quoted the classics, reminding us that "No man is an island," and she truly lived that philosophy, walking with her students through their happiest and saddest moments alike.
Dr. Farkouh, thank you for helping us all reach for that "endless diamond sky." You will never be forgotten.
