Personal History

Born in 1937 in Brooklyn, Mr. Adler attended Public School 16, Pershing Jr. High School and Fort Hamilton High School where he was involved in many athletic and extra curricular activities. His career at Fort Hamilton High School nurtured a desire within Martin Adler to follow a career of working with youngsters in an educational setting.

Mr. Adler received his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Brooklyn College. After a brief stint in the U.S. Army, Martin married Linda Blum, also a Fort Hamilton H.S. and Brooklyn College graduate. He began his teaching career at Jr. H.S. 50 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 1960, teaching Language Arts and Reading. In 1970, he became an Assistant Principal at The Jackie Robinson Intermediate School at the site of Ebbets Field where he still teaches. This is where Martin Adler began a life long ambition; to create The Brooklyn Dodgers Baseball Hall of Fame. Today the Brooklyn Dodgers Hall of Fame is known throughout the country for keeping alive the fond memories of the famed Brooklyn baseball team.

Marty Adler and his wife strongly believe that the moral values and the educational skills that were taught at Fort Hamilton High School sustained them throughout their adult lives. They also feel that they have influenced their two sons, Eric and Jeff, with a moral fiber that they feel to be so important.

For the man who established a hall of fame to honor our sports heroes, it is now the Alumni Association's honor to induct Martin Adler into the Alumni Hall of Fame as a charter member.
