Daniel Perez

Daniel Perez has been a fixture of the Fort Hamilton High School community for over three decades. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Sunset Park, Daniel began his journey with the Tigers as a standout student-athlete. As a two-year team captain in 1995 and 1996, he earned Big 44 honors, cementing his reputation as a leader on the gridiron long before his coaching career began.

His coaching tenure started in 1997 as a volunteer, a role he balanced while pursuing his Bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Brooklyn College. While serving as the Manager of the Student Computer Labs at Brooklyn College from 2002 to 2009, Daniel continued his ascent at Fort Hamilton, becoming the Assistant Head Coach in 2001. Committed to his calling as an educator, he later earned a Master’s Degree in Physical Education.

In 2010, Daniel was named Head Football Coach and made history by leading the Tigers to a City Championship in his inaugural season. His excellence was recognized city-wide, earning him the NY Jets High School Coach of the Year award and the honor of serving as the Head Coach for the New York City team in the Boomer Esiason Empire Challenge.

Today, Daniel serves the school as both a Physical Education Teacher and Head Football Coach. Across 29 years of dedication, his mission has remained unchanged: to develop young men of character, discipline, and integrity.

A longtime member of the community he serves, Daniel now resides in Bay Ridge with his wife of 15 years, Susanne, and their two daughters, Ava (14) and Aliah (8).
