Joshua Pace

Arriving Fort Hamilton High School (FHHS) in 1982 as a chronic “doesn’t apply himself” kid, Josh set a path for future success by identifying a potential career and opportunities to expand far afield.  Sometimes in response to a teachers counsel and sometimes in defiance.  A future path nonetheless.

Josh was a member of the golf team, which won back-to-back city championships under the coaching guidance of Roger Canal.  It was Coach Canal who truly ignited a fire of what is possible, a dare-to-dream type of attitude, and something Josh carried forward into his academic studies and golf game at the University of North Carolina.  While it was clear Josh wasn’t destined for the PGA Tour, he did double down on academics with a BS in Accounting, leading to a role at Deloitte post graduation in Charlotte.

Post Deloitte, Josh heeded a call from within to head west to Colorado, joining the US West Communications in finance team.  US West proved to be an ideal place to access the mentoring and opportunities he was seeking in an exploding telecom industry.  Nine years at US West served as a pathway to Josh’s first Chief Financial Officer role at California-based Openwave—a public, global telecom software company that pioneered the first mobile phone web browser and picture messaging.  After five successful years at Openwave, Josh, with his wife and two children, transitioned back to Colorado becoming the CFO of Canadian Mountain Holidays, the world largest heliskiing company.  It was during this time, he started the NGO, Bicycles for Humanity(B4H) in 2008.  Shortly after forming B4H, Josh became the CEO of Trust Company of America, which was ultimately sold to E*Trade in 2018.

Seeking to blend lifelong career skills with a passion for biking, Josh’s vision for B4H sought to bring mobility solutions to rural Africans in Zambia and Namibia.  Gathering donated bikes by the thousands, B4H now operates 12 community-based bikes shops that have radically improved access to education, employment and, healthcare. To date, B4H has shipped over 25,000 bikes to rural Africa, positively impacting countless lives.

Josh’s attributes his success to education (starting at FHHS), having a caring family, and support systems which fostered a pursuit of excellence.
