Mary Choy

Dr. Mary Choy is a board-certified pharmacist, educator, and award-winning author. A proud graduate of Fort Hamilton High School, she earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from St. John’s University and completed her residency at the Veterans Affairs New York Harbor Healthcare System.

Dr. Choy has built a distinguished career across academia, hospitals, community practice, and industry. As a professor, she was dedicated to improving health outcomes through patient care, public education, and professional leadership. Throughout her career, she has helped patients navigate complex medication regimens while advocating for improved access to quality care.

She has served as President of the NYC Society of Health-System Pharmacists (NYCSHP) and as Director of Pharmacy Practice for the New York State Council of Health-System Pharmacists. Dr. Choy has authored more than 150 publications and presentations and has received numerous honors, including the American Pharmacists Association Immunization Champion Award, the ASHP–ABHP Joint Leadership Award, the NYCSHP Harold Neham Award, and citations from both the New York State Assembly and the New York City Council.

 

Dr. Choy currently serves as a medical expert for Verywell Health. She has coauthored and coedited two books: Healthcare Heroes: The Medical Careers Guide (2019) and Introduction to Pharmacology (McGraw-Hill, 2025). She lives in New York City with her family and is committed to mentoring and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals.
